Wartime construction for the Navy of Tarrantry
I can't see a maritime nation like Tarrantry not producing at least some new vessels during the war years. Probably something along the lines of a new line of Cruisers to go along with the two new...

Rich the one most pleasing to the eye is the Emden. I would add another dual on the superstructure platform aft in the space between X and Y. Primary function is AA remember. I am going to see if I...

The Emden is an 'own design'; the two Italians are historical.I didn't go overboard with the twin 4.1in mounts. I could have replaced all the 5.9in, but I think there would be added weight in...

I'm with Carr2. The Emden with another 4.1 twin worked in. Lower it down half a deck and protect it and "Y" mount with that shelf-like extension over the mount found on KM destroyers.

I'm somewhat curious as to why you would bother putting a torpedo suite on an AA cruiser. That would almost guarantee that it would get sent into knife fights, and really, that's not where you want...

From what I can gather the AA cruisers for the most part started as destroyer leaders in the US Navy. I think the theory is it would give the ship a limited offensive power to get out of scrapes with...

Yes it is but I won't step on someone's story line without him at least accepting the basic idea of the plotline.

Theodore has become the custodian of the Saga. I wish someone would take all the parts and repost them as a series on the present board. The wayback machine has a lot of it but sketches o ships have...

Big Rich I was looking at the British C class cruisers that were converted to AA vessels. If we knocked off the Q turret and scrunched the superstructure together raise the bow profile a bit to give...

I think the scaled back armament and the centerline placement of the guns would mitigate the weight problems and the individual mount problems. If we take the 4 mounts in the standard AB XY positions...

I know this thread has gone off on a tangent, but if we could go back to the title for a minute, I've been re-reading (again) Tarrantry stories and other information and it occurs to me there was...

Another comment and little theory . . . There seems to be a gaping hole in the Tarrantry stories in terms of what happened in the Pacific after late '42 (or the events of The Last Carrier). What we...

I agree the problem being the research needed to bring the tech data up to the writing level. I love the writing done on the Saga.
